Before Antietam
He went to Wisconsin from Indiana with his family at about age 3 in 1847, and in 1860 was a 16 year old farm worker living with his parents and 4 siblings on the family farm at Williamstown/Mayville in Dodge County, WI. He enlisted on 5 June 1861 and mustered as a Private in Company E, 3rd Wisconsin Infantry.
On the Campaign
He was killed in action on 17 September 1862 at Antietam.
