Before Antietam
From Theresa, he enlisted in Company E, 3rd Wisconsin Infantry on 1 May 1861.
On the Campaign
He was wounded in action on 17 September 1862 at Antietam.
The rest of the War
He was wounded again, in action at Chancellorsville, VA in May 1863. He transferred to the Veterans Reserve Corps on 20 November 1863.
After the War
He joined the Regimental Association in in about 1895, then living in Atwater, WI. His address was listed as Beaver Dam P.O at the 1905 enumeration of Veterans living in Wisconsin.
