Before Antietam
From Vinland, he enlisted in Company G, 3rd Wisconsin Infantry on 15 May 1861.
On the Campaign
He was wounded in action on 17 September 1862 at Antietam.
The rest of the War
He was again wounded "severely in the wrist" in action, at Chancellorsville, VA in May 1863. He was absent at the muster-out of his Company (18 July 1865).
After the War
He was present at the September 1894 Regimental Reunion in Portage, WI.
