He mustered in New Orleans as Private in Company B, First Texas Infantry on 16 May 1861. He was appointed 4th Sergeant, date not given.

On the Campaign

He was slightly wounded in the thigh in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was mortally wounded at Gettysburg on 2 July 1863 and died on 8 July.

After the War

He was probably reinterred from Gettysburg to Hollywood Cemetery in Richmond in 1866 or 1872-73.
