Before Sharpsburg

From Marianna, FL, he was a member of the Phi Gamma Delta fraternity at the University of Virginia 1859-60, but his parents died before the end of the school year, and he did not continue at UVa. He mustered as 2nd Lieutenant, Company F, 2nd Florida Infantry on 13 July 1861. Promoted Captain on 31 May 1862. He was wounded in action at Seven Pines, VA on 31 May 1862.

On the Campaign

He was killed in action on 17 September 1862 at Sharpsburg.
