Before Sharpsburg

He enlisted in Texas as Private in Company A, First Texas Infantry and joined his Company in New Orleans on 19 May 1861.

On the Campaign

He was slightly wounded in the arm in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was promoted to Corporal in May 1863 and wounded again, at Chickamauga, GA on 20 September 1863. He was on furlough for his wound to about March 1864, then assigned as a tailor in the Confederate States Clothing Depot in Richmond, VA from June to November 1864.
