He first arrived in Duval County, FL from South Carolina in about 1840. He enlisted as 2nd Corporal of Company I, 8th Florida Infantry on 28 February 1862 at St. Johns Bluff (or Jacksonville), FL.

On the Campaign

He was reduced to Private on 14 September and mortally wounded in the leg in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He died of wounds at Chimborazo Hospital #1 in Richmond, VA on 18 November 1862.
