He was an unmarried 23 year old tinner from Evergreen, AL when he enlisted as Private on 25 April 1861 in Company E, 4th Alabama Infantry. He was promoted to 3rd Corporal in August 1862.

The rest of the War
He was killed in action at Chickamauga, GA 19 September 1863.
