He was an unmarried 26 year old clerk from Tuskegee, AL when he enlisted as Private on 28 April 1861 in Company B, 4th Alabama Infantry.
On the Campaign
He was captured in action on South Mountain in September 1862.
The rest of the War
He was exchanged in November 1862. He was wounded in action at Chickamauga, GA on 18 September 1863. Present with his Company in action in most engagements at least through the siege of Petersburg in 1864. Surrendered at Appomattox Courthouse, VA on 9 April 1865.
After the War
He never married.
