He was a married 32 year old farmer from Montevallo, AL when he enlisted as Private on 23 March 1862 in Company C, 4th Alabama Infantry.

Present in action on South Mountain and at Sharpsburg.
The rest of the War
He was wounded in action and captured at Gettysburg, PA on 3 July 1863. He was still a prisoner as late as 1 January 1865, with no further record.
