He was an unmarried 15 year old student from Linden, AL when he enlisted as Private on 25 April 1861 in Company D, 4th Alabama Infantry.

He was wounded in action on 17 September 1862 at Sharpsburg.
The rest of the War
He was disabled by his wound. Discharged for being underage in October 1862.
After the War
His widow A.W. Saunders applied for a pension in Jefferson County, AL on 17 August 1905, which is likely his death year.
