He was an unmarried 20 year old clerk from Marion, AL when he enlisted as Private on 24 April 1861 in Company F, 4th Alabama Infantry. He was present with his Company in engagements from First to Second Manassas.

Present in action at Boonsboro and at Sharpsburg.
The rest of the War
He was at Fredericksburg, VA in December 1862 and at Suffolk, VA in April-May 1863. He died 10 January 1864 at home in Marion, AL.
