He was an unmarried 24 year old farmer from Madison Station, AL when he enlisted as 2nd Corporal on 26 April 1861 in Company F, 4th Alabama Infantry. He was present with his Company in engagements from First to Second Manassas, having been reduced to Private on 20 April 1862.
On the Campaign
Present in action on South Mountain and at Sharpsburg.
The rest of the War
Present with his Company in action in most engagements at least to the Knoxville Campaign in 1863. Reported as captured, straggling, no date.
After the War
He married in 1865, and was still a farmer in Madison County at the 1870 and 1880 US Census. He moved to Texas about 1883. In 1900 he was living in Hillsboro, TX.
