Before Sharpsburg
He was an unmarried 18 year old student from Huntsville, AL when he enlisted as Private on 26 April 1861 in Company F, 4th Alabama Infantry. He was present with his Company in engagements from First to Second Manassas, VA in 1861 and 1862.
On the Campaign
Present in action on South Mountain and at Sharpsburg.
The rest of the War
He was in action at Fredericksburg, VA in December 1862, and wounded at Gettysburg, PA in July 1863. He did not return from furlough after Gettysburg.
