He was a married 28 year old teacher from Madison Station, AL when he enlisted as Private on 16 August 1861 in Company F, 4th Alabama Infantry at Bristoe, VA. He was present with his Company in engagements from Seven Pines to Second Manassas, VA in 1862.
On the Campaign
Present in action on South Mountain and at Sharpsburg.
The rest of the War
Present with his Company in action in most engagements until he was severely wounded at Cold Harbor, VA in June 1864.
