He was an unmarried 18 year old farmer from Marion, AL when he enlisted as Private on 24 April 1861 in Company G, 4th Alabama Infantry. He was present at most engagements from First to Second Manassas.

Present in action at Boonsboro and Sharpsburg.
The rest of the War
In action with his Company from Fredericksburg, VA in December 1862 through the Wilderness, VA, where he was killed in action on 6 May 1864.
