He was an unmarried 23 year old student from Marion, AL when he enlisted as Private on 24 April 1861 in Company G, 4th Alabama Infantry. He was present at most engagements from First to Second Manassas, and was elected Junior 2nd Lieutenant on 22 April 1862.

On the Campaign

Present in action at Boonsboro and Sharpsburg.

The rest of the War

He resigned on 6 November 1862 at Culpeper Courthouse, VA. He later served as Lieutenant, then Captain, in Companies A and B, 2nd Regiment, Alabama Reserve (63rd Regiment Infantry) from June 1864. He's also seen listed as Private in Company E, Jeff Davis Legion, Mississippi Cavalry, dates not known.

After the War

He was living in Dunedin, FL by the 1890s.
