He was an unmarried student from Huntsville, AL when he enlisted as Private 26 April 1861 in Company I, 4th Alabama Infantry. He was in action at First Manassas and Eltham's Landing, VA.

On the Campaign

He was with his Company on South Mountain and at Sharpsburg.

The rest of the War

He was appointed Sergeant in October 1862, and was in action from Fredericksburg, VA in December to Gettysburg, PA where he was captured in action on 2 July 1863. He was was a prisoner at Fort Delaware until April 1865.

After the War

He was a farmer living in Belle Mina, AL in 1907.
