Before Sharpsburg

He was an unmarried 25 year old clerk from Larkinsville, AL when he enlisted as 4th Sergeant on 27 April 1861 in Company K, 4th Alabama Infantry. Promoted 2nd Sergeant, date not given. He was in action from First to Second Manassas, VA. in May have served as Commissary Sergeant by Sharpsburg.

On the Campaign

He was wounded in the foot in action on 17 September 1862 at Sharpsburg.

The rest of the War

He was present at Chickamauga, GA and Chattanooga, TN, and on the Knoxville Campaign. He was discharged about December 1863, and served as a subsistence agent in Alabama.

After the War

He was living in Oneonta, AL in 1907
