He was a 25 year old married farmer from Independence, Autauga County, AL when he enlisted in Company G, 6th Alabama Infantry, on 1 March 1862 at Autaugaville.

On the Campaign

He was mortally wounded in action on 17 September 1862 at Sharpsburg.

The rest of the War

He died of those wounds in November 1862.
