Son of a physician, by 1850 he was with his family on their farm in Harrison County, TX. He enlisted on 22 September 1861 at Camp McLeod, VA and mustered as a Private in Company E, First Texas Infantry.

On the Campaign

He was killed in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862. He was 18 years old.
