From Harrison County, he enlisted in Company E, First Texas Infantry on 22 September 1861 at Camp McLeod, VA.

On the Campaign

He was slightly wounded in the thigh in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was paroled at Appomattox Court House, VA on 12 April 1865.
