Before Antietam
From Benton, he enlisted in Company I, 3rd Wisconsin Infantry on 26 May 1861.
On the Campaign
He was wounded in action on 17 September 1862 at Antietam.
The rest of the War
He transferred to the Veteran Reserve Corps (VRC) on 1 July 1863, and mustered out at the expiration of his term on 29 June 1864.
After the War
He married 18 September 1867 in Benton, WI and in 1868 he was living in Franklin County, IA. He was probably there through at least 1890. He remarried in 1903 in Cerro Gordo County, IA.
