Before Antietam

Born in New York, his family moved to Wisconsin when he was 10. From Fond du Lac, he enlisted in Company K, 3rd Wisconsin Infantry on 21 December 1861 at about age 17.

On the Campaign

He was wounded in action on 17 September 1862 at Antietam.

The rest of the War

He was promoted Corporal, Sergeant, and First Sergeant, dates not given. He mustered out with his Company on 18 July 1865.

After the War

In 1879 he moved to Ishpeming, MI and was a foreman of an iron mine. in 1882 he moved to Colby, WI and was a lumber grader and farmer. In 1904 he went to Antigo, WI.

Basic information from Bryant1. His gravesite is on Findagrave, source also of an obituary, though his birth year there seems at odds with his age at enlistment. Family genealogists have his birth in 1844.
