Before Sharpsburg

He mustered as Private in Company E, First Texas Infantry on 6 June 1861 in New Orleans. He was elected Lieutenant on 18 May 1862.

On the Campaign

He was slightly wounded in the arm in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862 while in command of his Company.

The rest of the War

He was promoted to Captain of the Company on 18 October 1862. He was wounded again, at the Wilderness on 6 May 1864, and retired for disability on a Surgeons Certificate on 24 November 1864.
