Before Sharpsburg

An unmarried 37 year old farmer from Radsfordville, he enrolled in Company A, 8th Alabama Infantry, data not given. He was present at Yorktown, Williamsburg, Seven Pines, Gaines Mill, Fraziers Farm, and 2nd Manassas in 1862. He was promoted to Corporal on 1 August 1862.

He was present at Sharpsburg.

The rest of the War

Then at Fredericksburg and Chancellorsville. He was wounded by gunshot to the head in action at Gettysburg, PA on 2 July 1863 and captured there on the 3rd. He was treated at the US 12th Corps hospital and then held at Forts McHenry and Delaware. He was exchanged at Point Lookout, MD on 10 February 1865. He died of illness at the Alabama hospital, Richmond, VA on 3 April 1865.
