He enlisted in Company E, 3rd South Carolina Infantry Battalion on 2 February 1862 at Adams Run, SC at age 20.
On the Campaign
He was wounded in action on 14 September 1862 at Fox's Gap.
The rest of the War
He was in General Hospital #4, Richmond, VA for a gunshot wound until returning to duty 18 October 1862. He was killed in action at Zoan Church, VA, near Chancellorsville on 4 May 1863.
