A married man from the Richland District, he enlisted in Company F, 3rd South Carolina Infantry Battalion on 30 January 1862 in Columbia, SC.

On the Campaign

He was captured in action on 14 September 1862 at Fox's Gap.

The rest of the War

Held at Fort Delaware, he was sent to Aikens Landing, VA and exchanged on 2 October 1862. He was admitted to General Hospital #23, Richmond, VA on 8 October and transferred to the hospital at Lynchburg, VA where he died 22 February 1863 of pneumonia.
