Before Sharpsburg
An unmarried teacher from the Fairfield District, he enlisted in Company G, 3rd South Carolina Infantry Battalion on 6 February 1862 at Columbia, SC at age 33.
On the Campaign
He was wounded and captured in action at Fox's Gap on 14 September 1862.
The rest of the War
Held at Fort Delaware, he was sent to Aikens Landing, VA and exchanged on 6 October 1862. He was at the General Hospital #20, Richmond, VA until furloughed home in November. He was in a hospital in Columbia, SC in January 1863, no further record.
