A married 33 year old clerk, he enlisted in Company F, 3rd South Carolina Infantry Battalion on 30 January 1862 at at Columbia, SC. He was promoted to Corporal on 30 January and Sergeant on 10 February 1862.
On the Campaign
He was killed in action on 14 September 1862 at Fox's Gap.
