Before Sharpsburg
An unmarried 19 year old from the Laurens District, he enlisted in Company D, 3rd South Carolina Infantry Battalion on 1 December 1861 in Columbia, SC. He was sick and on furlough in January and February 1862, but returned to duty in March.
On the Campaign
He was killed in action at Fox's Gap on 14 September 1862.
