He enlisted in Company E, 3rd South Carolina Infantry Battalion on 2 January 1862 at Adams Run, SC.
On the Campaign
He was wounded in the right shoulder in action at Fox's Gap, and captured, on 14 September 1862.
The rest of the War
He was sent to Fort McHenry and on to Fortress Monroe, VA, where he was exchanged on 17 October 1862. He was furloughed home for 50 days 15 November, but never returned.
