He was captured in action at Fox's Gap on 14 September 1862.

The rest of the War

Held at Fort Delaware, he was sent to Aikens' Landing, VA and exchanged on 2 October 1862. He was again captured, in action on the North Anna, VA on 23 May 1864. He was at Point Lookout, MD until exchanged on 15 March 1865.
