A married 36 year old blacksmith from the Mt. Gallagher section of Laurens District, he enlisted as Private in Company C, 3rd South Carolina Infantry Regiment on 5 December 1861 at Columbia, SC.
On the Campaign
He was killed in action at Fox's Gap on 14 September 1862.
