He mustered as Private in Company G, First Texas Infantry on 23 June 1861 at Palestine, TX. He was wounded at Eltham's Landing, VA on 7 May 1862.

On the Campaign

He was slightly wounded in the back in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was paroled at Appomattox Court House, VA on 12 April 1865.
