Age 16, giving his age as 18, from Ontario, Canada, he enlisted at Lapeer, MI on 8 August 1861 and mustered as Private, Company G, 7th Michigan Infantry on 22 August.

On the Campaign

He was wounded in the knee in action at Antietam on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was killed at Gettysburg, PA on 3 July 1863.
