Age 25, he enlisted in Company H, First Texas Infantry on 20 March 1862 at Kickapoo, TX.

On the Campaign

He was mortally wounded in the head and arm in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was sent home on furlough but died of wounds on 1 December 1862 in Texas.
