A 26 year old tailor in Boston, he enlisted on 26 July 1861 in Company E, 19th Massachusetts Infantry. He was wounded in the head in action near Glendale, VA on 30 June 1862.

On the Campaign

He was killed in action at Antietam on 17 September 1862.
