Before Sharpsburg

In 1861 he was the Scribe of the Trinity chapter of Royal Arch Masons in Crockett, TX. He enlisted in Company I, First Texas Infantry on 1 May 1862.

On the Campaign

He was mortally wounded in the hand and arm in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He had two fingers amputated and later his arm. He was admitted to the Globe Hospital (General Hospital #11), Richmond, VA, on 29 October but died there of his wounds on 14 November 1862.
