Before Antietam

Age 34 years, he enlisted in New York City to serve three years and mustered in as First Sergeant, Company H, 103rd New York Infantry on 25 November 1861. He was commissioned 2nd Lieutenant, Company B on 25 January 1862 and promoted to First Lieutenant, Company G on 30 July.

On the Campaign

He was mortally wounded in action at Antietam on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was promoted to Captain, Company K on 29 September, but died of wounds in January 1863 at the Camden General Hospital in Baltimore, MD.
