An 28 year old piano maker in Boston, he enlisted 8 October and was commissioned Captain, Company C, 28th Massachusetts Infantry the same day.
On the Campaign
He was wounded in action at Antietam on 17 September 1862.
The rest of the War
He resigned and was discharged 10 March 1863.
