In 1860 he was a 30 year old hatter in Bethel, CT. He enlisted on 13 December 1861 and mustered as a Private in Company K, 11th Connecticut Infantry.

On the Campaign

He was wounded in action at Antietam on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was discharged for disability on 17 October 1862.

After the War

By 1870 and to at least 1880 he was again a hatter in Bethel. In 1900 he was a merchant there.
