Age 20 years, he enlisted 23 July 1862 at Wayland to serve three years and mustered in as Sergeant, Company I, 107th New York Infantry the next day.
On the Campaign
He was wounded by gunshot to the right foot in action at Antietam on 17 September 1862.
The rest of the War
He was treated in a hospital in Frederick, MD, and discharged for wounds 3 April 1863 at Convalescent Camp, Alexandria, VA.
