On the Campaign

He was mortally wounded in the forehead in action at Antietam on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was treated at the Hoffman Farm hospital in Sharpsburg, then at Frederick, MD, and Philadelphia, PA, where he died of wounds on 28 September 1862.
