A 36 year old laborer from Milford, he enlisted in Company F, 19th Massachusetts Infantry on 27 August 1861. He transferred to Company I on 1 December 1861.
On the Campaign
He was wounded in the arm in action at Antietam on 17 September 1862.
The rest of the War
He mustered out on 28 August 1864.
