Before Antietam

He enlisted at age 41 in Company D, 13th New Jersey Infantry on 29 July 1862 and mustered as Corporal.

On the Campaign

He was disabled by injury or wound at Antietam on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was treated at hospitals at Smoketown and Frederick, MD, then sent to Fairfax Station, VA where he was discharged for disability on 28 December 1862.

After the War

At age 65 he was admitted to the New Jersey Home for Disabled Soldiers, Newark, on 15 November 1884, and died there on 14 October 1885 of "disease of the brain".
