He was in action with his Company at Antietam on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was wounded in the shoulder in action at Chancellorsville, VA on 3 May 1863 and was treated at a hospital at Aquia Creek, VA. He mustered out of service with his Company on 8 June 1865.
