Before Antietam
He enlisted at age 25 in Company D, 13th New Jersey Infantry on 8 August 1862 and mustered as Private.
On the Campaign
He was in action with his Company at Antietam on 17 September 1862.
The rest of the War
He was wounded in action near Atlanta, GA on 18 August 1864, and was treated at the Twentieth Corps Hospital. He was back on duty 6 September 1864. He was detailed as an orderly to the Corps Headquarters 18 September 1864, and mustered out of service with his Company on 8 June 1865.
After the War
He's in the 1879 City Directory for Newark as a confectioner, in the ice cream business.
