Age 28, from Saco, he enlisted as Private, Company E, 10th Maine Infantry, and mustered on 4 October 1861.

On the Campaign

He was slightly wounded in the head in action at Antietam on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was promoted to Corporal, date not given, and mustered out with his Company on 8 May 1863.

After the War

He owned and operated an express (mail) business from about 1870 to at least 1886. He was on the Biddeford, ME City Council in 1878.
