Robert Walker Anderson

Before Sharpsburg

He had taught Greek at UNC before the War. From Orange County, he enlisted as Sergeant, 3rd North Carolina Artillery in 1862. He was appointed Lieutenant and aide-de-camp to his brother General G.B. Anderson on 11 July 1862.

On the Campaign

He was wounded in the shoulder in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was acting Lieutenant of Artillery at Fayetteville Arsenal, NC in April 1863, Lieutenant and Ordnance Officer by 2 May 1862, and assigned as Ordnance Officer to General Cooke on 16 July 1863. He was promoted to Captain 25 February 1864. He was killed in action in the Wilderness, VA on 5 May 1864.
